A full hot breakfast was included with my room charge, then off to the Aviation Museum before starting my day at 11am. With only 80km to cover I expected a short day of riding; turned out to be a lot longer than I expected. Strong headwinds and several 1-2km climbs of between 100-150m added to my day.
It is unfortunate that I had to use up two days due to weather as it would have been nice to get off of the TCH and tour the province as I feel I am missing a lot of the beauty? Obviously I get to meet many people on a trip like this, and today I spent a half hour chatting with “Cracker” and “Bling” from the Boozefighters Motorcycle Club. Yep, that would be of the fully patched type of biker. Great guys who were really interested in my journey. Their clubhouse is in St Johns and they invited me to come by Saturday to enjoy their “fall party”, do you think they need a General Manager? What, I am not the right fit for their club you think?
Finally arrived at the Newman Sound Campground within the National Park at 530pm. Noticed my back tire looking out of true, upon further inspection the rim has no less than 8 stress cracks near spokes! I loosened off a few spokes hoping to take off some pressure on the affected areas, still out of true but better. Hoping the bike shop in Clarenville might have a new rim or I will may be pushing Betty into St Johns.
